Eyes of Justice PledgePage
A new non-profit 501(c)3 organization has been established in Texas. This The name of this organization is the Eyes of Justice. The Eyes of Justice is spearheading a solution to an ongoing problem in the state. This growing problem in Texas is nearing the point of critical mass. The state imprisons then releases citizens at a rate of more than 70,000 people annually. The judicial system's intake of people is of such magnitude that prosecuted citizens are the fastest growing demographic group in our state.
Once released, these individuals return to their home communities and are shunned by most employers creating a situation of greatly diminished economic contribution. Lack of adequate pay, daily survival needs, and long term housing compound with support systems that are unable to provide necessary rehabilitation. This forces released offenders into immediate pass or fail activities. Many of the released offenders with a high potential for success are forced into recidivism due to the lack of support or choices. Wages, housing, discretionary spending and tax contribution are significantly reduced on a wide scale and this situation is expanding at an alarming rate. The long term projection is a significantly weaker state economy and dangerous crime rates. Our initiatives are based on the idea that assistance for those incarcerated as well as facilitating the ReEntry of released offenders is the foundation for reducing crime and creating safer communities in which our children live, learn and grow. The day-to-day activities for the Eyes of Justice are to provide professional level employment for capable released offenders; reduce recidivism; contribute to the economy and society in a positive manner; identify and monitor injustices and immoral activities within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The Eyes of Justice is the voice of incarcerated and state supervised individuals, giving them a voice and place in society. By rehabilitating these individuals that comprise a vast percentage of our populace, making them contributing members of society; we, as a collective, can work together and improve our society, economy and community in the process.
